Use

What is Triamcinolone for?

Triamcinolone is a corticosteroid drug with a function to prevent the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation.

Oral triamcinolone (used by mouth) is used to treat many different body conditions such as allergic disorders, skin conditions, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, or respiratory problems.

Triamcinolone can also be used for other reasons not mentioned in these treatment instructions.

Triamcinolone dosage and triamcinolone side effects will be explained further below.

How to use Triamcinolone?

Use triamcinolone exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not use too much or too little or for a long time which is not recommended. Follow the instructions on the label of your recipe.

Use triamcinolone with food to prevent stomach pain.

Take 4 – 12 mg daily, in addition to mineralocorticoid therapy.

The usual adult dosage for Ankylosing Spondylitis

Early:

Drink 8-16 mg per day. Alternatively, 3 – 48 mg IM per day, given in equal dosages every 12 hours.

Intra-articular and intrasynovial injection:

5 – 40 mg once depending on the size of the joint. The average for feet is 25 mg.

The maximum dose of triamcinolone diacetate per week is 75 mg.

The usual adult dosage for bursitis

Early:

Drink 8-16 mg per day. Alternatively, 3 – 48 mg IM per day, given in equal dosages every 12 hours.

Intra-articular and intrasynovial injection:

5 – 40 mg once depending on the size of the joint. The average for feet is 25 mg.

The maximum dose of triamcinolone diacetate per week is 75 mg.

The usual dosage for adults for osteoarthritis

Early:

Drink 8-16 mg per day. Alternatively, 3 – 48 mg IM per day, given in equal dosages every 12 hours.

Intra-articular and intrasynovial injection:

5 – 40 mg once depending on the size of the joint. The average for feet is 25 mg.

The maximum dose of triamcinolone diacetate per week is 75 mg.

The usual dosage for adults with Rheumatoid Arthritis

Early:

Side effects

What side effects can be experienced due to Triamcinolone?

Seek emergency medical help if you have signs of this allergic reaction: itching, difficulty breathing, swelling on the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Tell your nurse immediately if you have serious side effects such as:

  • Vision loss
  • Swelling, rapid weight gain, feeling short of breath
  • Severe depression, unusual thoughts or habits, seizures
  • Pup bleed or brownish, coughing up bloody
  • Pancreatitis (severe pain in the upper abdomen that spreads to the back, nausea, and vomiting, rapid heartbeat)
  • Low potassium (dizziness, irregular heartbeat, severe thirst, frequent urination, uncomfortable feet, weak muscles, feeling weak)
  • High blood pressure is dangerous (severe headache, blurred vision, buzzing ears, restlessness, chest pain, shortness of breath, convulsions)

Less serious side effects include:

  • Difficulty sleeping (insomnia), mood swings
  • Pimples, dry skin, thinning skin
  • Old wounds heal
  • Sweat increases
  • Headache, dizziness, head spinning
  • Nausea, stomach ache
  • Weak muscles
  • Changes in shape or location on the fat body (especially on the hands, feet, face, neck, breasts, and wrists)

Not everyone experiences these side effects. There may be some side effects not mentioned above. If you are worried about side effects, please consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
